Cragganmore 20 Years Old 2020 Special Release. Image courtesy Diageo. This is one of the eight single malts in Diageo’s 2020 Special Releases collection, and was matured in a combination of refill and newly-charred casks. The nose is complex and woody with hints of cedar shavings, pears, cooked bananas, and a hint of coconut. The taste is slightly astringent with touches of oak tannins, cooked fruits, and hints of baking spices when tasted neat, while adding water opens up a touch of tartness. The long finish fades away gently with a nice balance between sweetness and spices. (October, 2020)
